Once we found out we were expecting (once again), we decided to transition Layla to the guest bedroom leaving Liam with her previous nursery since the guest bedroom is much more spacious for a toddler to play and run around in than her previous room.
As far as design concept for Liam's nursery, I love neutrals and given how small the room is, light colors make the space appear larger and more open. In hindsight, I am so glad I decided to go with neutrals and gold for Layla's previous nursery over blush pink because it made it very simple to transition from a girl's nursery to a boy's room by just adding a few dinosaur decoration accents, a new rug and curtains. I am obsessed with Pottery Barn Kid's furniture and decorations. This was my inspiration for Layla's nursery but its not budget friendly so I opted for the high end look of pottery barn but on a Walmart budget.
One thing I will note was the difficulty of tying in and matching the gold accent pieces. Since nothing came as a set, I had to be careful purchasing pieces online as there is much more variety to the color than I had imagined. There is shiny gold, metallic gold, brass gold, matte gold, well you get the picture.
I have linked all of the furniture pieces with the price I paid so you can reference a sale or discounted item. If you have the time to wait on items, especially since a newborn baby sleeps in a bassinet in your room for the first few months, you may want to wait on big ticket items to go on sale.
DaVinci Charlie 6-Drawer Double Dresser from Ashley Furniture $269.99 ( I swapped out the silver metal pull handles that came with the dresser for 3 - 3/4 inch gold brass pull handles that I liked from Home Depot: cost $6.68 each)
Gold Curtain Rod from Crate & Barrel in 48-88" $44 (This is a purchase I made out of desperation. I purchased three other curtain rods prior to this one and every time I came home to hang it up, it clashed and was not the same variant of gold as the rest of the room so I returned them.)
Blackout Curtain from Overstock (Color: Biscuit) $35.96 (This curtain was purchased over 4 years ago for our apartment and we just repurposed it for the nursery.)
